چکیده
Automated stereological methods are presented for approximating the 3D size distribution of unimodal or bimodal precipitate dispersions considering 2D and 1D measurements taken from polydisperse spherical non-penetrating particle dispersions. A method to quantify uncertainty approximation as a function number sampled particles is demonstrated experimental data. The derivation verification analytical expressions used included. Two procedures estimating populations depending upon relative two populations. If can be characterised using micrographs same magnification, it possible estimate volume fraction each population. For cases where have been at different an area fractions needed combine datasets allow distribution. These useful use in determining initial modelling appropriate measure when characterising dispersion.

Computer-assisted stereology and automated image analysis for quantification of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes in colon cancer
BACKGROUND Precise prognostic and predictive variables allowing improved post-operative treatment stratification are missing in patients treated for stage II colon cancer (CC). Investigation of tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) may be rewarding, but the lack of a standardized analytic technique is a major concern. Manual stereological counting is considered the gold standard, but digital pa...
متن کاملForward and Backward Uncertainty Quantification in Optimization
This contribution gathers some of the ingredients presented during the Iranian Operational Research community gathering in Babolsar in 2019.It is a collection of several previous publications on how to set up an uncertainty quantification (UQ) cascade with ingredients of growing computational complexity for both forward and reverse uncertainty propagation.
متن کاملError Estimation and Uncertainty Quantification for non-linear CFD problems
Modern research and engineering rely on numerical simulations to predict the behaviour of fluids and some derived physical quantities of interest. These predictions are often strewn with errors and uncertainties. Numerical errors come from replacing the real physics with approximate models solved by numerical approximations, while uncertainties are due to insufficient knowledge of some input va...
متن کاملEfficient quantification of afferent cochlear ultrastructure using design-based stereology.
The afferent synapse between the auditory nerve fiber and the inner hair cell (IHC) represents a critical junction for hearing. Elucidation of the structure at this site will help establish the substrate for normal sound encoding as well as pathologic processes associated with hearing dysfunction. Previous applications of unbiased (design-based) stereological principles have expanded our knowle...
متن کاملAn Ensemble Algorithm Framework for Automated Stereology of Cervical Cancer
Stereological procedures to quantify mean nuclear volume are commonly used to differentiate cancerous from normal tissue. Automatic quantification of these parameters requires segmentation, which is complicated by the variability in tissue staining and nuclei size. One solution to deal with such alterations in a robust fashion is to use an ensemble of segmentation methods. The goal of this work...
